JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Technical Architect / SAP S/4HANA Technical Lead to provide technical leadership and architectural governance for a large-scale SAP S/4HANA Transformation Program.
The role will oversee the System Integrator's technical delivery, review and challenge solution designs, enforce SAP Clean Core principles, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
The ideal candidate will have extensive SAP S/4HANA technical architecture experience, strong integration expertise, knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and experience leading complex enterprise SAP transformation initiatives.
This position emphasizes architecture, governance, and technical oversight rather than day-to-day development. The candidate must have sufficient hands-on expertise to evaluate designs, resolve complex technical issues, and guide architectural decisions with minimal ramp-up time.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for the SAP S/4HANA Transformation Program.
- Review, challenge, and govern System Integrator solution designs, technical deliverables, and implementation approaches.
- Establish and enforce SAP Clean Core principles and architectural standards.
- Guide architecture decisions involving SAP BTP, integrations, extensions, and enterprise application connectivity.
- Oversee end-to-end integration architecture between SAP S/4HANA and enterprise applications.
- Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical governance activities.
- Identify and resolve complex technical issues, risks, dependencies, and architectural gaps.
- Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, scalability, maintainability, and upgradeability.
- Coordinate technical decisions across Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Data Management, application teams, and business stakeholders.
- Support technical planning, testing, implementation readiness, and major program milestones.
Required Qualifications
1. SAP S/4HANA Technical Architecture
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and governing SAP S/4HANA technical architecture.
- Proven leadership on large-scale SAP implementations or transformation programs.
- Ability to evaluate complex solution designs and troubleshoot cross-workstream technical issues.
2. System Integrator Oversight & Technical Governance
- Experience overseeing external SAP System Integrators and governing technical delivery.
- Ability to challenge architecture decisions, assess technical risks, and ensure solution quality.
- Experience leading architecture reviews and coordinating technical dependencies.
3. SAP Clean Core Architecture
- Strong understanding of SAP Clean Core principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of SAP extensibility strategies and minimizing unnecessary core modifications.
- Ability to guide teams toward maintainable, scalable, and upgrade-friendly solutions.
4. SAP Integration Architecture
- Extensive experience with SAP integration architecture, interfaces, APIs, and middleware.
- Experience governing integration designs between SAP S/4HANA and enterprise applications.
- Ability to identify and resolve integration risks and dependencies.
5. SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)
- Strong understanding of SAP BTP integration and extensibility capabilities.
- Experience evaluating BTP architecture and side-by-side extension strategies.
- Understanding of how BTP supports Clean Core principles.
6. Enterprise Architecture & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Experience governing enterprise application architecture and technical standards.
- Ability to assess security, scalability, maintainability, and architectural alignment.
- Strong communication, technical troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience coordinating across cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, integration, and application teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP NS2 environments and associated security and compliance considerations.
- Experience with SAP RISE and cloud-hosted SAP environments.
- Knowledge of SAP Integration Suite, ABAP extensibility, APIs, and middleware technologies.
- Experience with SAP data migration and integration strategies.
- Experience leading architecture review boards and technical design approvals.
