Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Product Owner (DPM) to bridge the gap between US-based Insurance business stakeholders and a global engineering team.
You will lead the Requirement Elaboration process, maintain an impeccable Technical/Functional Documentation library, and drive Agile Execution through high-quality Jira Story Writing.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep insurance domain expertise and the ability to manage the full functional lifecycle from high-level roadmap to final UAT sign-off.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirement Elaboration & Documentation
- Discovery & Synthesis:
Lead deep-dive discovery sessions with underwriters, actuaries, and claims experts to extract complex business rules. - Functional Specification:
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including: - Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs)
- Process Flow Diagrams
- Data Mapping Sheets
- Knowledge Repository:
Own and manage Confluence (or similar), ensuring documentation is: - Version-controlled
- Searchable
- A Single Source of Truth for both client and offshore teams
2. Jira Mastery & Story Writing
- Backlog Excellence:
Transform high-level roadmap into a granular, prioritized Product Backlog in Jira. - User Story Crafting:
Write Ready-to-Dev user stories using the INVEST principle. Each story must include: - Clear Business Context & Value Statement
- Detailed Functional Requirements
- Robust Acceptance Criteria (AC) including:
- Happy Path
- Edge Case scenarios
- Technical Mapping:
Ensure Jira stories clearly define: - Data source-to-target mappings
- Business logic for Snowflake data platform
3. Strategic Roadmap & Client Interaction
- Vision Ownership:
Partner with client VP/SVP stakeholders to define and evolve the Insurance product roadmap. - Stakeholder Alignment:
Manage expectations around: - MVP (Minimum Viable Product)
- Future phases
- Balance between technical debt and business value
4. Agile Execution (Onshore-Offshore Model)
- Sprint Orchestration:
Lead all Agile ceremonies across time zones: - Daily Stand-ups
- Sprint Planning
- Refinement
- Retrospectives
- Functional Triage:
Act as primary point of contact for offshore teams to resolve requirement ambiguities in real-time. - UAT & Quality Assurance:
Lead the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase: - Partner with business users for validation
- Manage defect triaging in Jira
- Ensure final functional sign-off before production release
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Insurance Domain Mastery:
10+ years of experience in: - P&C (Property & Casualty)
- Life Insurance
- Specialty Insurance
Strong understanding of: - Policy lifecycles
- Claims processing
- Regulatory reporting
- Agile Expert:
Advanced proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies with experience scaling Agile in global delivery models. - Tool Expertise:
- Jira & Confluence (power-user level)
- Visual modeling tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro)
- Data Literacy:
Ability to work with data engineers and discuss: - Snowflake schemas
- SQL logic
- API integrations
- Communication:
Strong ability to translate: - Insurance Speak Developer Speak
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Backlog Health:
Maintain 2 3 sprints of Ready stories at all times - Requirement Clarity:
Minimal return-to-PO rate due to unclear requirements - UAT Success:
High percentage of First-Time Right UAT sign-offs
