Role Purpose
The Associate Test Equipment Design Engineer will support the design completion, documentation, integration, and commissioning readiness of automated test rigs for PCBA, unit-level, end-of-line, four-point, validation, and vibration-test applications. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the associate will prepare and update electrical design artifacts, interface maps, bills of materials, build documentation, issue logs, and commissioning support packs while coordinating with Purchaser stakeholders, automation teams, technicians, and nominated vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in capturing existing design status, open requirements, assumptions, safety constraints, vendor dependencies, equipment interfaces, and commissioning needs.
Maintain the requirement matrix, design backlog, action tracker, issue log, risk register, and dependency log.
Prepare or update electrical schematics, control-panel diagrams, grid-monitoring interfaces, relay interfaces, DAQ/PXI connections, rack interconnects, cable and harness drawings, wiring schedules, and connector details.
Support component selection and BOM preparation for power supplies, relays, protection devices, connectors, cables, sensors, instruments, and panel/rack hardware.
Develop and maintain I/O maps and interface documentation for oscilloscopes, power analyzers, digital multimeters, power supplies, National Instruments DAQ/PXI hardware, flow meters, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, chambers, and vibration-test interfaces.
Support LabVIEW and test-automation teams through I/O mapping, sequence reviews, interface assumptions, debug notes, and controlled document-release support activities.
Prepare assembly instructions, build clarification packs, design review material, redline updates, and controlled document-release package.
Coordinate technical queries with fixture suppliers, panel/rack build teams, technicians, and other nominated vendors under the direction of the lead engineer.
Support design verification, peer reviews, readiness assessments, FAT/SAT input preparation, defect triage, and handover documentation.
Participate in daily or regular stand-ups, weekly status reviews, gated design reviews, and action-closure meetings.
Follow applicable electrical safety, document-control, configuration-management, confidentiality, and secure-data handling requirements.
Escalate incomplete inputs, interface conflicts, safety concerns, schedule risks, and scope deviation promptly.
Expected Deliverables
- Requirement baseline, assumptions register, open-issue log, and prioritized work backlog.
- Updated station/test-rig architecture and interface documentation.
- Electrical schematic, panel, rack, harness, cable, wiring, and connector documentation in the agreed format.
- BOM updates, component recommendations, build instructions, and vendor clarification records.
- DAQ/PXI I/O map and test-instrument interface package.
- LabVIEW/test-automation interface notes, review comments, and debug checklist.
