Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: Full Time
Work Mode: Hybrid (Monday to Thursday in the office for 9 hours and Friday for 4 hours remotely at home and fun social events)
 
Job Description
We are seeking a Supervising Mechanical Engineer – Healthcare to lead mechanical engineering projects and teams. This role is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and assigning projects, serving as the Engineer of Record, managing technical design activities, and representing the firm in interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and project teams.
 
Responsibilities
  • Serve as Engineer of Record on dedicated projects.
  • Supervise and lead coordination meetings.
  • Lead and supervise engineering staff.
  • Coordinate and assign projects to the engineering team.
  • Establish design standards, specifications, and project criteria.
  • Provide employee evaluations, technical training, and staff mentoring.
  • Manage construction administration duties, including field reports, RFIs, Bulletins, and Addenda.
  • Participate in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
  • Coordinate project invoices and monitor accounts receivable.
  • Monitor correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, and owners.
  • Prepare proposals and administer project contracts and add service agreements.
  • Supervise preparation of system analysis and building condition reports.
  • Participate in technical committees and teams.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 12+ years of experience working in a consulting firm.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Healthcare design experience.
  • PE licensure.
  • Hands-on mechanical design experience.
  • Hands-on CAD/REVIT experience.
  • MEP engineering industry experience.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Critical Facilities.
  • Commercial project experience.
  • Aviation project experience.
  • Mission Critical experience.
  • Project Management experience.
