Work Mode: Hybrid (Monday–Thursday in office for 9 hours; Friday remotely for 4 hours)Duration: Full Time Position SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team in Chicago, IL, specializing in Critical Facilities. Experience working in a consulting firm on mission-critical projects is required for success in this role. The position will contribute to the design of major projects, including data center engineering design across multiple sectors and markets.
Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for representing the firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members.
- Create basic designs under the direction of the senior engineer and/or senior designer.
- Develop specifications, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes.
Additional Responsibilities- Establish design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
- Supervise preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions.
- Maintain interdisciplinary coordination with other trades and project consultants.
- Monitor all correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, and other project team members.
- Supervise construction administration duties such as field reports, responses to RFIs, and processing bulletins and addenda.
- Conduct periodic objective and comprehensive employee evaluations.
- Participate in and contribute to the business unit Technical Leadership Committee.
- Assist the Technical Manager and Chief Engineer with business unit technical training and staff mentoring.
Job Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 8+ years of experience working in a consulting firm.
- Senior-level experience with a background in the MEP Engineering Industry.
- 3 years of supervisory experience.
- PE required.
- Hands-on design and CAD/Revit experience required.
- Strong technical experience in mechanical engineering design.
