Employment Type: Contract to Perm
Role Overview
As a Sr. Engineer on the ServiceNow platform team, you will serve as a technical expert in ServiceNow CMDB and the Common Service Data Model (CSDM). You will provide design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy and your expertise in configuration data governance, discovery, and service model maturity. This role involves determining specifications, planning, designing, and developing business-critical platform solutions while serving as a trusted advisor to various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive CMDB data governance practices, including health scoring, data quality frameworks, CI lifecycle management, and reconciliation strategies.
- Design, configure, and optimize ServiceNow Discovery and broader ITOM capabilities to ensure accurate, automated population of CI data.
- Lead the design and ongoing maturation of the CSDM implementation, including Business Application, Application Service, and Technology Service layer development.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, translating complex CMDB and CSDM concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to the development of engineering practices, templates, and frameworks that strengthen the broader platform.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for CMDB processes, data integration workflows, and governance procedures.
- Participate in planning sessions to help decompose and prioritize work and engage in team support rotation.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on ServiceNow CMDB experience is required, including CI class design, relationship modeling, data governance, and CMDB health management. This includes deep expertise in CSDM and a strong command of ServiceNow ITOM.
Technical Skills: Candidates must have the ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions, experience contributing to engineering standards in a product operating model, and demonstrated experience in an Agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or CIS-CMDB certification.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or similarly regulated industries.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow ITSM, Security Operations, and/or Integrated Risk Management.
- Exposure to Now Assist for ITSM and CMDB, including AI-powered capabilities.
Work Environment
You approach your work with a sense of ownership and curiosity. You can hold your own in conversations with senior architects while also making space for collaboration across the team. You share new ideas openly, lead through influence rather than authority, and consistently deliver outcomes that meet or exceed expectations for stability, scalability, and resilience. This role begins as a contract engagement with the opportunity to convert to a full-time position and is fully remote.
