Position Overview 

We are seeking a skilled Section 508 Accessibility Specialist / Federal Trusted Tester to support accessibility testing, compliance, remediation, and reporting for federal government websites, applications, software, digital documents, eLearning, and online training content.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Section 508, WCAG 2.0 Level A/AA, and the Federal Trusted Tester methodology, along with experience using assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct manual and automated Section 508 and WCAG accessibility testing.

  • Apply the Federal Trusted Tester methodology (v4 or higher).

  • Test websites, applications, software, PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, eLearning, and online training content.

  • Identify accessibility issues and document findings, impacts, and remediation recommendations.

  • Perform accessibility validation and retesting after remediation.

  • Develop test plans, test cases, checklists, and testing protocols.

  • Prepare Test Problem Reports (TPRs), Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs), WCAG/VPAT-style results, and remediation documentation.

  • Provide screenshots, visual exhibits, and clear remediation guidance.

  • Collaborate with developers, content creators, instructional designers, and project teams.

  • Stay current with Section 508, WCAG/W3C WAI standards, assistive technologies, and accessibility best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Federal Trusted Tester certification, v4 or higher.

  • Hands-on experience with manual and automated accessibility testing.

  • Strong knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 Level A/AA.

  • Experience identifying, documenting, remediating, and validating accessibility defects.

  • Experience supporting federal Section 508 accessibility requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of assistive technologies and digital accessibility.

  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Accessibility Tools & Technologies

Experience with several of the following:

  • JAWS, NVDA, WAT

  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking

  • ZoomText

  • Object Inspector

  • WAVE

  • axe / Deque

  • Remediate

  • Comparable accessibility testing tools

Digital Documents & eLearning

Experience testing and remediating accessible:

  • Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint

  • eLearning and interactive training content

Experience with tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline/Rise, Elucidat, iSpring, Lectora, and Camtasia is preferred.

Online Training Videos

Experience evaluating:

  • Accurate transcripts and closed captions

  • Audio description

  • Accessible supporting documentation

  • Accessibility of online-delivered training

Federal Security & Access Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required for federal IT-system work unless an approved waiver applies.

  • Must meet applicable federal residency and personnel security/EOD requirements.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required PIV credentials and agency access.

  • Existing Public Trust or Secret clearance is a plus but does not replace agency-specific requirements.

  • Must be able to work securely in remote/offsite environments.

  • Occasional travel to federal locations may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Federal government Section 508 program experience.

  • Accessibility auditing and compliance assessment experience.

  • Experience with WCAG/W3C WAI standards.

  • Experience providing remediation guidance to development and content teams.

  • Experience producing audit-ready accessibility reports and documentation.
