Data Protection Engineer Microsoft Purview - Jersey City, NJ / Coppell, TX / Tampa, FL (Hybrid)
We have a contract-to-hire opportunity for a Data Protection Engineer to lead the design and implementation of enterprise data protection controls. The immediate focus is Microsoft Purview Information Protection: defining what counts as sensitive data, building a classification and labeling strategy, and turning those decisions into working DLP rules. You'll set consistent controls across email, endpoints, cloud, and SaaS, then configure and test how those controls detect sensitive information such as secrets and keys. The work also includes integrating controls with Proofpoint and Zscaler, evaluating DSPM tools, and extending data protection to applications, APIs, and AI environments.
Candidates should have hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and enterprise DLP in financial services. You should be able to explain how you designed a control, how you configured and tested it, and how you documented the change for review. Experience automating security controls, integrating platforms through APIs, and applying cloud engineering practices is important. You'll also provide technical direction to engineers and work with architecture, cybersecurity, and risk teams. Consulting experience and exposure to DSPM for AI or insider risk are preferred.
This is a hybrid contract-to-hire opportunity with three days onsite per week. Jersey City, NJ is preferred; Coppell, TX and Tampa, FL are also options.
