Job Description:

  • We are seeking an experienced Actuary Consultant with strong Property & Casualty (P&C) expertise and advanced credentials (ACAS/FCAS or equivalent).
  • This role focuses on state filings, pricing, trend analysis, and DOI interaction, requiring someone who can independently manage complex actuarial projects and clearly communicate technical insights to leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • State Filing & Regulatory
    • Lead and manage assigned state rate filing processes
    • Develop, revise, and justify rates for personal lines products
    • Perform trend analysis and build rate indication models
    • Prepare, submit, and defend filings with Departments of Insurance (DOI)
    • Partner with Lead Actuary on sign-offs and regulatory responses
    • Address DOI objections, inquiries, and compliance requirements
  • Actuarial & Pricing
    • Apply advanced actuarial methodologies to pricing and reserving analyses
    • Select, validate, and analyze internal and external data
    • Build and enhance actuarial/statistical models
    • Translate business problems into technical modeling frameworks
    • Ensure accuracy, documentation, and compliance of actuarial work products
  • Strategic & Cross-Functional
    • Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership
    • Identify process or compliance gaps and recommend improvements
    • Support cross-functional initiatives as a subject matter expert
    • Convert complex or conflicting information into actionable business insights
    • Maintain strong risk management and governance practices

Experience:

  • ACAS or FCAS designation (or equivalent international credential)
  • 6+ years of actuarial experience, preferably in Property & Casualty insurance
  • Strong experience with state filings, especially personal lines
  • Hands-on experience interacting with Departments of Insurance (DOI)
  • Advanced knowledge of actuarial/statistical techniques used for pricing decisions
  • Proficiency in actuarial modeling tools
  • Intermediate skills in:
    • Python
    • SQL
    • Data visualization tools
    • Analytical querying
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly

Skills:

  • ACAS or FCAS
  • Actuarial experience

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience.
