Genzeon is seeking a motivated and experienced Solution Architect to join our Technology team. In this role, you will contribute to the architecture, design, and scaling of Client’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform, and related interoperability solutions.
You will be responsible for shaping and governing technical solutions that enable Client’s platforms and service offerings to integrate effectively with clients and partners. This role works within a cross-functional team of Product Designers, Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Quality Analysts, and Interoperability Engineers to define, design, and implement scalable, secure, and reliable solutions in a delegated authority healthcare environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Leads the identification, definition, and documentation of solution architecture, technical design, and interface requirements through thorough analysis of technical and business processes.
- Serves as a liaison between clients, health services, technology, and training teams to determine appropriate EDI and interoperability solutions, and to review, identify, clarify, and resolve solution requirements.
- Identifies inconsistencies, risks, and gaps within complex business, data, and integration workflows.
- Provides architectural guidance and oversight to business analysts and engineers in planning, analysis, and execution of requirements and solution documentation.
- Participates in the following business rhythms:
- Maintains, updates, and takes ownership of existing and new interoperability products and platform integrations from a solution architecture perspective.
- Participates in Agile Project Planning & Estimation meetings, reviewing feature backlogs and identifying impacts to timelines, budgets, resources, and scope.
- Facilitates clear communication and expectation alignment with integration partners.
- Participates in client planning meetings discussing EDI, HL7, FHIR, and Web Service interface designs with external partners.
- Architecture & Solution Delivery Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly analyzes problem definitions, requirements, and software deliverables to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, performant, and support long-term platform growth.
- Defines architectural patterns, integration approaches, and technical standards for interface and data exchange solutions following industry standards, including HIE, X12, HL7, and FHIR.
- Ensures solution designs are implemented correctly and that functional and non-functional requirements are achieved.
- Provides architectural oversight for the design, implementation, testing, and support of custom interoperability interfaces.
- Production Support & Governance:
- Supports production interoperability solutions by advising on complex issues, risks, and remediation approaches.
- Monitors integration health and performance in partnership with engineering teams.
- Prioritizes architectural and solution-level issues appropriately and communicates status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Project & Process Participation:
- Participates in project planning and estimation activities, reviewing architectural impact of proposed changes to timelines, budgets, resources, and scope.
- Manages, reviews, and contributes to requirements, features, user stories, and technical tasks to ensure architectural alignment.
- Participates in test planning, execution, and quality assurance activities to validate solution design and implementation.
- Coordination & Collaboration:
- Coordinates with external clients to ensure alignment of technical and interface specifications and successful solution delivery.
- Partners with Client Success to ensure solutions meet or exceed client expectations.
- Collaborates with Training leadership to provide architectural and technical input to training materials and enablement activities.
- Collaborates closely with engineering teams to design and evolve interoperability solutions supporting ProgenyHealth’s proprietary Baby Trax platform.
- Documentation Responsibilities:
- Manages and produces clear, detailed solution and technical documentation, including:
- Electronic Data Interchange and web service integration documentation
- Functional and non-functional requirements
- Use cases and companion guides
- System, data flow, and integration diagrams
- Process workflows and data models
- Wireframes and UI markups supporting proprietary web and mobile applications
- Test cases and validation artifacts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study or discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems).
- 5+ years of experience supporting Agile software development teams delivering healthcare or interoperability solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Web Services and RESTful Web APIs (SOAP experience a plus).
- Experience with NextGen Mirth Connect (preferred) or another EDI integration engine.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare standards and protocols, including X12, HL7, FHIR, and CCDA.
- Proficient with an Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
- Hospital or managed care information systems experience; integration of third-party COTS software with proprietary platforms preferred.
- Experience creating data flow, application flow, and system architecture diagrams.
Solid SQL skills required.
Preferred:
- Experience with X12 278 and 834 transaction standards (strongly preferred).
- Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Reporting Services, and Analysis Services experience.
- Experience with JSON, WebAPI, and SOAP-based integrations.
- SQL Server database management application experience.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle best practices and architectural governance.
