Description:

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a System Engineer (SE3) to support the design, integration, and sustainment of complex enterprise IT systems within mission-critical environments. This role focuses on analyzing system requirements, developing and maintaining system architectures, and supporting large-scale server, network, and infrastructure operations. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with enterprise systems, scripting/automation, and deep troubleshooting across Windows and Linux environments, serving as a key technical resource for diagnosing and resolving complex system and server issues. This position includes collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams, participation in system engineering processes, and technical leadership to ensure system performance, stability, and compliance with requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze system requirements and support development of system-level and derived requirements
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions across server and network environments
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex server and system issues, serving as an escalation point for critical outages and performance problems
  • Support system integration, testing, and deployment activities for complex IT systems
  • Develop and maintain system engineering documentation (e.g., requirements, architecture, interface control documents)
  • Create and maintain scripts and automation tools to support system operations and maintenance
  • Participate in configuration management, change control processes, and CCB activities
  • Collaborate with software, network, and security engineers to ensure system performance and interoperability
  • Support system lifecycle activities including design, testing, accreditation, and operations
  • Conduct system performance analysis and contribute to reliability and maintainability improvements
  • Provide technical input during design reviews, program reviews, and integration efforts

Qualifications:
  • 20+ years of System Engineering or related enterprise IT experience supporting complex programs
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline (or 5 additional years of experience in lieu of degree)
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise server environments (Windows/Linux), systems administration, and advanced troubleshooting
  • Experience with scripting/automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or similar) and supporting full system lifecycle activities
