Senior Google Cloud Platform Data Engineer – Healthcare Data Platforms

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong experience in Healthcare Data Platforms and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). The candidate will design, develop, and support scalable healthcare data platforms and ETL/ELT pipelines using modern cloud data engineering technologies.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, BigLake, Dataproc, Data Composer, Apache Iceberg, Starburst, dbt, and PySpark, along with experience working with healthcare data such as Claims, Member, Provider, or Clinical data.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud data platforms on Google Cloud Platform.

• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark, dbt, Dataproc, and Data Composer.

• Develop data solutions using BigQuery, BigLake, Apache Iceberg, and Starburst.

• Build data integrations using APIs, SFTP, and Kafka.

• Develop data models and transformation processes.

• Perform data validation and ensure data quality, reliability, and accuracy.

• Optimize data processing and analytical workloads for performance and scalability.

• Support production deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.

• Identify and resolve data pipeline and platform performance issues.

• Collaborate with architects, analysts, developers, and business stakeholders.

• Follow data governance, security, privacy, and engineering best practices.

• Create and maintain technical documentation for pipelines, integrations, and data platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

• Google Cloud Platform or other cloud data engineering certifications.

• Experience with FHIR, HL7, or EDI.

• Experience with healthcare interoperability.

• Experience with modern lakehouse architectures and open table formats.

• Experience with cloud monitoring and observability.

• Experience implementing automated data quality frameworks.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Cloud Data Engineering.

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).

• Hands-on experience with:

  • Data Composer

  • Apache Iceberg

  • Starburst

  • dbt

  • PySpark

• Strong SQL and data modeling experience.

• Strong ETL/ELT development experience.

• Experience with Kafka, APIs, and SFTP integrations.

• Experience with production monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

• Strong understanding of data quality, reliability, and data governance.

Mandatory Healthcare Experience

• Experience working with healthcare data is required.

• Strong experience with one or more of the following:

  • Claims

  • Member

  • Provider

  • Clinical Data

• Understanding of healthcare data integration and healthcare data quality requirements
