Genesis10 is currently seeking a Systems Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Pennington, NJ or Chandler, AZ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This role involves the design, development, and implementation of systems engineering activities, including OS technical support, systems programming, and data center capabilities. The ideal candidate will serve as a proficient technical resource, performing platform health checks, applying patches, and assisting in upgrades, while also troubleshooting complex application issues using various APM tools.
Responsibilities: - Participate in the design, development, and implementation of systems engineering activities, including OS technical support and systems programming
- Serve as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource, providing technical knowledge and capabilities
- Perform platform health checks, apply patches, and assist in upgrading the platform and agents
- Triage and troubleshoot Java, .Net, and Oracle applications on the back-end platform
- Navigate through product outages, identify performance bottlenecks, and determine the root cause of incidents
- Use independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action to solve problems
- Work independently or in team settings on complex production issues
- Participate in an on-call support rotation
Requirements: - 5+ years of systems engineering experience
- Experience with one or more Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Aternity, Gomez, Introscope, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, GlassBox, or Splunk
- Experience in Windows and Linux Engineering, SQL, or Linux Shell Scripting
- Basic knowledge of Middleware Technologies such as Weblogic, WebSphere, or Tomcat
- Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of resource utilization/capacity planning and ability to identify performance bottlenecks
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex production issues
Desired skills: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
- Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin or Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect
- Ability to influence and direct activities across a matrixed organization
Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
