Role SummaryThe Lead Lenel Installation Technician plays a critical role in the deployment, integration, and support of advanced security systems for U.S. Navy programs throughout the National Capital Region, including Washington, DC and Maryland. This senior-level field position ensures high-quality installation, programming, and testing of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related technologies. As a technical lead, the Lead Lenel Installation Technician guides junior technicians, collaborates with project managers and engineers, and ensures every system is delivered with accuracy, compliance, and professionalism. This is a
6-month contract-to-hire role ideal for an experienced technician ready to lead complex federal security installations.
3. Core Responsibilities- Lead the installation, configuration, programming, and maintenance of security systems including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and integrated platforms.
- Install, route, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling and conduit following industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Integrate, program, and troubleshoot security systems such as Lenel OnGuard, Milestone VMS, cameras, access control panels, and alarms to ensure seamless system operation.
- Conduct comprehensive system testing, inspections, and quality assurance checks to verify operational readiness.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation, including wiring diagrams, system configurations, as-built drawings, and project reports.
- Provide customer training, guidance, and technical support on system operation and functionality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
- Adhere to safety protocols, federal site requirements, and installation best practices at all times.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to execute installation work on schedule and within defined scope.
- Mentor and train junior technicians to build team capability and support consistent project performance.
- Perform additional responsibilities aligned with the core duties of the role.
4. Required Skills & Experience (Must-Haves)- Lenel OnGuard Certification.
- Proven ability to program Lenel OnGuard and Milestone systems.
- Strong knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and low-voltage cabling.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience guiding and training installation teams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field environments.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites across Washington, DC and Maryland.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain required security clearance.
5. Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Haves)- Security+ Certification.
- Technical or vocational training in electronics or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with multiple security hardware manufacturers and integrated security platforms.
- Strong ability to read wiring diagrams, engineered drawings, and technical documentation.
- Experience working in federal, DoD, or mission-critical operational environments.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

- Lead installation tasks with accuracy, safety, and minimal oversight.
- Complete documentation and quality checks according to project standards.
Beyond 90 Days:- Independently lead full-scope security installation projects across the National Capital Region.
- Deliver consistently high-quality work that meets project timelines and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the growth and development of junior technicians.
- Build strong customer relationships through clear communication and reliable support.
8. Work Environment- Field-based role supporting U.S. Navy facilities across Washington, DC and Maryland.
- Requires travel to multiple sites within the National Capital Region.
- Work includes cabling, ladder use, equipment installation, and operation within secure federal environments.
- Must follow all site access requirements, safety rules, and compliance protocols.
- 6-month contract-to-hire engagement through the staffing provider.
9. Compensation & Benefits- Pay Rate: $40 - $55 per hour, based on experience.
