Job Description
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Business Analyst will serve as a key resource for analyzing business processes related to tax collections and enforcement of South Carolina tax laws. This role requires extensive collaboration with executive leadership, IT teams, and business users to improve system functionality, streamline collection operations, and support agency-wide initiatives.
The successful candidate will analyze collection reports, recommend system improvements, identify process enhancements, and assist with resolving complex collection issues while ensuring compliance with agency policies and information security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business needs related to tax collection operations and recommend effective business solutions.
- Evaluate collection processes and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
- Analyze integrated tax system data to improve reporting and team productivity.
- Troubleshoot collection-related issues and recommend system enhancements.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, management, and IT teams to resolve business and system challenges.
- Develop recommendations for new reports that improve identification of tax debtors.
- Maintain knowledge of integrated tax systems and participate in required technology training.
- Prioritize collection issues while managing deadlines associated with tax liens and compliance requirements.
- Mentor and support team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Maintain compliance with corporate information security policies.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (completed and verifiable)
- 3+ years of Process Improvement experience
- 3+ years of Integrated Tax System experience
- 3+ years of experience training team members on tax data
- 3+ years of State Government experience
- 3+ years of SharePoint experience
- Ability to analyze and enhance integrated tax systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GENTAX
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience implementing process improvements
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with business users, management, and IT teams
- Experience identifying and implementing solutions for systemic business issues
