Position Description
We are seeking experienced Revenue Integrity Analysts (Medical Billing) to support enterprise healthcare modernization initiatives across the Military Health System (MHS). In this role, you will help ensure accurate billing, compliant charge capture, and efficient claims resolution within MHS GENESIS (Cerner), the Department of Defense’s enterprise electronic health record.
You will work closely with clinical teams, revenue cycle leaders, IT analysts, and financial stakeholders to improve billing accuracy, reduce denials, and strengthen revenue cycle performance across military treatment facilities. This position plays a key role in optimizing charge capture workflows, revenue cycle configuration, and billing operations within a complex federal healthcare environment.
This is a fully remote opportunity supporting mission-critical healthcare systems used across the Department of Defense.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and optimize charge capture workflows, billing logic, and revenue cycle configuration within MHS GENESIS / Cerner environments.
- Conduct charge validation and reconciliation of clinical activity to billing outputs to identify revenue leakage and DNFB risks.
- Investigate claim edits, denials, and reimbursement discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Perform payer remittance analysis to detect denial trends, modifier issues, bundling conflicts, and billing inconsistencies.
- Support billing accuracy for UB-04 and CMS-1500 claims, ensuring proper payer acceptance and reimbursement outcomes.
- Utilize Cerner analytics tools (HealtheAnalytics, HDI) and Excel-based reporting to identify operational trends and revenue improvement opportunities.
- Partner with coding teams, clinicians, IT teams, and revenue cycle leadership to resolve billing issues and standardize workflows.
- Contribute to enterprise-level initiatives focused on denial reduction, revenue cycle optimization, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop reports and executive-level summaries to communicate risks, insights, and recommended remediation strategies.
- Support staff education on coding accuracy, documentation standards, and revenue cycle best practices.
Required Skills / Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 4+ years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) including billing operations, charge capture, or revenue integrity analysis.
- Hands-on experience with MHS GENESIS or Cerner EHR systems supporting revenue cycle workflows.
- Strong understanding of medical billing and coding standards including ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and modifier usage.
- Experience investigating claim denials, claim lifecycle management, and payer remittance analysis.
- Familiarity with federal healthcare billing regulations including TRICARE and DHA compliance frameworks.
- Experience analyzing operational and financial data using Excel, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Ability to collaborate across clinical, technical, and financial teams to resolve complex billing issues.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in cross-functional healthcare environments.
