Title: Procurement Specialist (Automotive Manufacturing) - Hybrid
Duration: 3 Months
Location: Lisle, IL
 
Hybrid, willing to accept remote candidates; however, they must be somewhat local as they will be expected to come to the Lisle, IL location for meetings and team collaboration as needed.

Job Description:
 
Background
  • Client Procurement is launching Wave 3 of its enterprise savings initiative focused on identifying and executing procurement cost reduction opportunities across multiple spend categories.
  • An initial opportunity hypothesis and savings baseline have already been established.
  • The newly formed project team is seeking an experienced procurement industry expert to support the refinement, validation, and execution strategy of identified opportunities.
The primary need is for a senior procurement practitioner with deep sourcing and cost optimization expertise who can:
  • Facilitate working sessions and workshops
  • Challenge assumptions and opportunity sizing
  • Provide category and negotiation expertise
  • Help shape execution strategies
  • Bring practical industry insight into procurement value levers and supplier strategies
  • This engagement is not primarily focused on PMO structure, governance, or generic project management support.
Scope of Work
The selected consultant/resource will support the Client Procurement leadership team in the following areas:
 
1. Opportunity Assessment & Validation
  • Review existing savings hypotheses and opportunity pipelines
  • Assess category-level savings potential and feasibility
  • Identify additional procurement value levers and sourcing opportunities
  • Challenge assumptions and improve opportunity quality
2. Workshop Facilitation
  • Lead and facilitate working sessions with procurement teams and stakeholders
  • Drive structured discussions around category strategies and savings opportunities
  • Help align stakeholders on priorities, risks, and execution approaches
3. Procurement & Category Expertise
  • Provide industry expertise across strategic sourcing and procurement cost optimization
  • Support category-specific analysis and sourcing strategy development
  • Advise on supplier negotiation approaches and commercial leverage opportunities
  • Share market best practices and benchmarks where applicable
4. Savings Strategy Development
  • Help define actionable savings execution strategies
  • Assist in prioritizing initiatives based on impact, complexity, and timing
  • Support development of implementation roadmaps and execution sequencing
5. Leadership Support & Recommendations
  • Provide recommendations and executive-level insights to Procurement leadership
  • Support preparation of materials for leadership reviews and steering discussions
Resource Requirements
Client is seeking:
  • One (1) senior-level consultant/resource
  • Strong procurement and sourcing background required
  • Demonstrated experience leading procurement savings or transformation initiatives
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, industrial, or related industries preferred
  • Strong workshop facilitation and executive communication skills required
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams
