Our portfolio of advanced solutions regulates and protects mission-critical power equipment for a broad and expanding customer base.DescriptionPosition requires travel to various sites for installations, commissioning, system maintenance, or providing training on large generation control, excitation, and protection systems.
Reports to: Field Service Manager
Essential Duties - Complete wiring and/or provide technical direction to craft labor for installation of new generator excitation and protection and controls equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering department to develop installation task lists and integration designs and schematics.
- Responsible for material and equipment procurement on assigned projects.
- Facilitate mobilization, demolition, and installation activities including scheduling and supervision of craft labor on site.
- Assist with maintenance and testing of generator excitation systems, protective relays, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Participate in educational activities.
- Write trip reports that describe, in detail, the system and device failure and actions taken. Review the system problem and solution with the Engineering group.
- Travel to customer sites to oversee installations of equipment, perform system commissioning or required maintenance, provide instructions for customer maintenance, or repair equipment.
- This position requires 50% to 65% travel throughout the US. The remaining office time is focused on engineering design for projects assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements - BS in Electrical Engineering and/or 1-4 years' controls and/or industrial electrician experience.
- Extensive travel, some with little advance notice.
- 3-5 years' experience in design or field service engineering is desired.
- Industrial, power plant, or equivalent experience required.
- Understanding of and ability to interpret and implement from electrical, connection, and interconnection drawings and schematics.
- Candidates must have utility/power plant or similar industrial experience.
- Experience with controls systems, prime mover controls including balance of plant PLC with SCADA systems or HMI is desired.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

CompensationWe anticipate filling the Field Service Engineer position with an expected compensation range of $73,000 - $84,000. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. Starting pay and job title are based on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
