Job Title: Finance Data Management Risk Consultant Location: Charlotte, NC (Primary)Contract Length: 6 months (extensions likely; possible FTE conversion)Pay Rate: $58 - $65Top Requirements:7+ years of Data Management, Business Analysis, Analytics, or Project/Program Management experience.Strong executive-level communication skills (must be able to present complex data, risk, and governance topics to senior leaders).Strong knowledge of metadata management, lineage tools, and data governance.Experience in financial services is required, especially Finance/Accounting data, regulatory expectations, and risk management.Strong project and program management capabilities.Plusses:Hands-on SQL or Python.Knowledge of cloud architecture and data risk tied to cloud implementations.Familiarity with Jira, SDLC, TALC, and data integration project management.Experience leveraging generative/agentic AI (prompt engineering, automation support).Job Summary:In this contingent assignment, the Finance Data Management Risk Consultant will support the Finance Data Management Office (FDMO), which defines and executes the Finance data strategy and drives data governance, risk, and control capabilities across Finance. The consultant will contribute to complex, multi-faceted Data Management initiatives, address cross-domain data risks, support regulatory and audit activities, and engage with senior stakeholders across Finance, Risk and Technology. This role requires deep experience in data governance, metadata, data quality, and Finance data in large financial institutions.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Data Governance, Risk & Control Execution- Lead and execute complex, enterprise-level data management initiatives.
- Assess data, metadata, lineage, and data quality issues; recommend and drive remediation strategies.
- Ensure new initiatives and transformation programs properly incorporate data management and data risk requirements.
Initiative Leadership- Drive accountability for large-scale data efforts, managing dependencies and risk exposure.
- Make decisions in complex situations involving Finance data, controls, and governance.
- Mentor junior staff on governance and control practices.
- Lead implementation of moderate-risk initiatives aligned to compliance and regulatory expectations.
Regulatory, Audit & Reporting- Support regulatory, audit, and risk management reporting needs.
- Drive issue identification, validation, remediation, and closure.
- Partner with Data Product Owners, technology teams, and control teams to ensure sustained corrective actions.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence- Act as key Data Management liaison for Finance stakeholders (Controllers, Treasury, Corporate Finance, etc.).
- Consult senior management on data quality, governance effectiveness, and emerging risks.
- Represent Finance Data Domain Management in cross-functional governance forums.
Data, Technology, and Analytics Support- Leverage metadata tools and governance technology.
- Engage with databases, ETL processes, and cloud storage/compute platforms.
- Use Jira to track project tasks and deliverables.
- Utilize generative/agentic AI tools in a power-user capacity when relevant.
