Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Center Technician to support the decommissioning, cleanup, and asset management of our state-of-the-art facility. You will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient removal and documentation of equipment, cabling, and peripherals, helping maintain the highest standards of safety and organization in our data center environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment & Rack Removal:

    • Uninstall laboratory equipment from test bays and staging areas.
    • Dismantle 2-post and 4-post racks, ensuring safe and proper procedures.
    • Assist with removing cabinets and preparing equipment for internal disposal workflows.
  • Cable Mining and Subfloor Cleanup:

    • Safely identify, trace, and remove unused or abandoned cabling from raised floors and plenum spaces.
    • Systematically clean and organize cabling row-by-row, ensuring no disruption to active systems.
    • Distinguish between active and inactive cabling to prevent disruptions.
  • Asset Handling and Documentation:

    • Palletize decommissioned equipment, peripherals, and packaging for proper disposal.
    • Assist with tracking serial numbers and documenting assets with minimal scanning, targeting up to 100 assets monthly.
    • Capture before-and-after images of cleanup areas and document all disposal and decommissioning activities.
  • General Site Support:

    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace throughout the decommissioning process.
    • Follow all safety protocols and lab access procedures to ensure a secure environment.
    • Complete Jira tickets accurately, providing updates and flagging issues for escalation as needed.
  • Additional Support & Client Engagement:

    • Provide clients with detailed artifacts related to decommissioned items, cabling, and inventory updates.
    • Document and track all activities related to triage efforts, vendor engagement, and escalations within tracking systems.
    • Ensure proper placement of items onto pallets and meticulous removal from lab spaces.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Prior experience in data center operations, electrical, or telecom environments preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely for rack and equipment removal.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with Jira or other ticketing systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety standards and maintaining a clean work environment.
Publishing Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 USD Hourly
