Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Data Center Technician to support our Baltimore facility. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in equipment decommissioning, cable management, and site support within a cutting-edge technology setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment & Rack Removal:
    Safely uninstall lab equipment from test bays and staging areas, including unbolting and dismantling 2-post and 4-post racks. Assist in removing cabinets and preparing equipment for internal disposal workflows.

  • Cable Mining & Subfloor Cleanup:
    Identify, trace, and remove unused or abandoned cabling from the raised (plenum) floor space, ensuring no disruption to active systems. Work systematically row-by-row to clean and organize all cabling components.

  • Asset Handling & Documentation:
    Manage decommissioned equipment by placing items onto pallets for disposal, accurately tracking serial numbers (targeting up to 100 assets per month), and documenting assets before and after cleanup activities with photographs and detailed reports.

  • General Site Support:
    Maintain a tidy and safe workspace, adhere to on-site safety protocols, and diligently complete Jira ticket assignments. Follow up with supervisors to resolve issues or update task statuses.

  • Additional Support & Artifacts Management:
    Provide clients with detailed artifacts of items removed during triage efforts, vendor engagements, or escalations. Assist in inventory documentation for decommissioned lab assets and ensure proper placement of items for asset disposition.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of data center equipment, racks, and cabling practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and protocols consistently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing systems is a plus.
  • Physically able to lift and move equipment and pallets as needed.
Publishing Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 USD Hourly
