Job Title: Software Engineer

Location: Urbandale IA

Duration: Contract For 1 + years

We are looking for a Senior Backend Data Engineer with strong Python development and AWS cloud expertise to build and scale backend systems that process terabyte-to-petabyte-scale weather data. The ideal candidate will have experience with Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Terraform, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis, and CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop scalable AWS/Databricks solutions and data pipelines.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs, serverless applications, and backend services using Python.
  • Manage large-scale data processing workloads using Spark, Databricks, S3, Parquet, and Delta Lake.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
  • Optimize system performance, scalability, reliability, and cloud costs.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Operations teams to deliver data-driven solutions.

Required Skills:
  • Strong Python coding and production deployment experience.
  • Experience handling large-scale (TB/PB) datasets.
  • Hands-on AWS expertise (IAM, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway).
  • Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Terraform, Docker, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and Redis experience.
Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Datadog and modern DevOps practices.
