About Indiana Office of Technology:

The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

Role Overview:

The Systems Administrator configures and maintains a variety of technologies while supporting the implementation and completion of small projects. In this role, you will manage tickets, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with internal teams and end users, and provide application support. You will also assist with system upgrades, contribute to hardware and software planning, participate in change control, and work with IT staff to develop technical solutions and improvements.

A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist with configuring, maintaining, and supporting several technologies.
  • You will be responsible for the implementation and completion of small projects.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Interact with internal teams and end users to resolve reported issues via the ticketing system.
  • Provide moderate level support for applications and software that interface with the Indiana Office of Technology and their customers.
  • Assist with information system upgrades including planning, testing, and documenting the process and server administration setup.
  • Provide suggestions regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting to higher-level staff.
  • Maintain the production change control schedule and participate in change control.
  • Work with Information Technology staff to assist in developing problem solutions and/or software and hardware enhancements.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

Credentials:
  • a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Technology or related field with 1+ year of experience, or
  • a High School Diploma or HSE diploma with 3+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
  • Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

Additional qualifications:
  • Moderate knowledge of information technology systems and their related infrastructure.
  • General knowledge of performance and tuning techniques.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently with direction from higher-level information technology staff.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of policies, standards, procedures, and techniques.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
