Position Overview

Core financial institutions run on mainframes, and Client is helping them safely transition these vital operational cores to the cloud. We are seeking an elite Mainframe Modernization Specialist to join our AWS ProServe GFS delivery engine. In this remote U.S. role, you will apply your unique bridge of knowledge across legacy mainframe architectures and modern AWS target states to deliver complex core banking transformations for Top 10 Global Banks.

Key Responsibilities

• Deconstruction & Code Mapping: Analyze legacy mainframe artifacts (COBOL, JCL, PL/I, CICS, IMS) and DB2/VSAM data structures to map their operational logic against modern business processes.
• AWS Mainframe Modernization Service Delivery: Implement migration pathways utilizing AWS Mainframe Modernization service, automated refactoring (e.g., Blu Age), or replatforming frameworks (e.g., Micro Focus).
• Data Coexistence & Sync: Architect real-time data replication and coexistence strategies between the on-premise mainframe and AWS cloud-native components during multi-year transformation phases using AWS DataSync, IBM MQ connectivity, and event streaming.
• Validation & Parallel Run Testing: Design automated testing patterns to run parallel executions (Mainframe vs. AWS) to validate transactional precision, financial reconciliation, and performance compliance down to the penny.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 12+ years of enterprise IT experience, with a minimum of 5 years in legacy mainframe environments and 3+ years specifically in AWS-driven mainframe modernization projects.
• Domain Expertise: Deep industry experience in Core Banking, Insurance Systems, or High-Volume Clearing Ledger ecosystems. Fulfilling transaction consistency across modern/legacy boundaries is essential.
• Technical Deep Dive: Strong fluency in mainframe environments (z/OS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS) paired with immediate, hands-on competency in AWS targets (Amazon EC2, Aurora, EKS, Lambda) and data conversion tools.
• Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or Associate.
• Location: 100% Remote (Based anywhere in the US).
