Role Summary
The TDS Portfolio Director plays a critical leadership role within a global technology PMO, overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and governance of a defined portfolio of initiatives. This role ensures projects are delivered consistently, transparently, and in alignment with enterprise priorities.
As a player coach, the Portfolio Director leads a team of project professionals while also driving select high visibility initiatives, ensuring strong governance, effective change management, and actionable portfolio reporting.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead technology portfolio planning, demand management, and prioritization in partnership with senior leadership
• Govern all projects within the portfolio to ensure alignment with defined PMO frameworks, methodologies, and standards
• Plan and manage portfolio resources, schedules, dependencies, and sequencing across multiple initiatives
• Deliver consistent portfolio, program, and project reporting including status, risks, financials, and resource demand
• Identify, track, and mitigate cross project risks and issues impacting portfolio delivery
• Partner with change management and communications teams to support successful adoption of solutions
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to drive alignment, manage expectations, and achieve strategic outcomes
• Participate in governance boards, steering committees, and roadmap discussions to guide decision making
• Mentor and develop project managers, providing coaching, guidance, and performance oversight
• Manage relationships with key internal partners and strategic technology vendors
Key Requirements
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience leading technology portfolios, programs, or projects within a PMO environment
• Proven experience with portfolio governance, demand management, and enterprise project lifecycle management
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing portfolio budgets, forecasts, and actuals
• Experience delivering technology initiatives supporting enterprise change management
• Familiarity with portfolio reporting, analytics, and EPMO standards and tools
• Experience working in Data and or AI project environments preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non technical audiences
• Strong leadership, coaching, and collaboration skills with a solution oriented mindset
