Senior Cloud Data Architect

We are seeking a Cloud Data Architect to design and optimize enterprise-scale Azure data platforms that support analytics, AI, and business intelligence initiatives. This is a hands-on architecture role focused on cloud data solutions, data modeling, metadata management, and distributed data processing.
Job Title: Senior Cloud Data Architect
Pay Rate: Up to $75 hr/w2
Contract: 6+ Months Contract
Location: San Jose, CA - 100% Onsite
Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Azure-based data architecture solutions using Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, and Databricks
• Develop scalable data models, schemas, and enterprise data frameworks
• Create architecture diagrams, data flows, and technical documentation
• Design metadata, governance, lineage, and data quality frameworks
• Support distributed data processing using Spark and Databricks
• Develop solutions using Python and SQL
• Optimize cloud data platforms for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Partner with engineering and business teams to deliver data solutions

Must Haves:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (Required - Non-Negotiable)
  • Resume must clearly show degree completion and attendance dates
• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Enterprise Analytics
• 3+ years of experience designing cloud-based data architectures
• Strong Azure experience including:
  • Azure Data Lake
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Synapse
  • Azure Databricks
• Strong data modeling, schema design, and metadata management experience
• Hands-on experience with Spark and Databricks
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Experience creating architecture documentation, system diagrams, and data flow diagrams
• Ability to work onsite in San Jose, CA, 5 days per week

Nice to Have:

• Unity Catalog, Purview, Collibra, DataHub, or similar governance tools
• Airflow or dbt
• Data lineage and metadata automation experience
• CI/CD and modern data platform practices
• Data security and governance experience
• Experience with AI, machine learning, or enterprise data platforms

Please note: Candidates without a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and the ability to work onsite in San Jose will not be considered.
