Lab Technician

Job Title: Lab Technician

Location: Plano, TX (Onsite)

Duration: 6+ Months

Xoriant reasonably expects the pay rate for this position to be within the following range: $30/hr-$31hr/.

Duties:

Qualified candidates will be proficient in Basic Network administration, Rack and Stack, Network cabling and updating documentation. You must be self-motivated, articulate and organized. You have a talent for finding and resolving issues before they become larger problems. Prefer candidates with experience in a support or engineering network lab or Data Center Environment.

Responsibilities:

Typical job responsibilities will include:

Enable remote access to lab services for end users via SSL VPN and RDP/VNC/View Client.

Rack and stack of equipment in the lab

Organization of the lab and keeping the lab clean in a presentable state.

Being able to identify different cables connection within the lab and identify their correct use.

Auditing of physical and virtual devices including connection / Serial Numbers/ and IP Address

Maintaining and updating documentation

Acting as a ticket queue lead to monitor ticket queue and re-distribute tickets to other team members or groups within PANW.

Getting familiarized with the ticket queue incoming requests and updates from user and being able to re-assign or update those tickets daily.

Cabling up network topologies based on Engineers and Lab Admin requests.

Monitoring Power and Cooling usage within the lab.

Skills:

Basic troubleshooting skills on network outages are a plus.

Working experience on Firewalls is a plus.

Handson experience on Cisco and Arista switches is a plus.

Basic Windows and VMware administration experience.

Strong cable management skills and experience running fiber and copper cables in data center.

Basic understanding of how to use VMware virtual environment ex: power on and power off VMs.

Basic experience with CENTOS, Ubuntu, or other Linux distributions.

Strong understanding of cable patch panel connections.

Being able to differentiate between copper and Fiber optics and cables.

Clear communication through Emails, Messages, and Ticket updates

Understanding Priorities: SLA requirements

Quick Responsiveness and Follow up.

Knowing how to SSH and Console into devices.

Must be able to lift 50lbs+

Basic understanding of power and cooling and how it can affect the lab.

Good work ethics

1 3yr of experience in Lab or Datacenter Environment
