Job Description:
The Picture Archive Communication System Analyst (PACS) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing PACS to ensure seamless medical imaging workflows across healthcare facilities. This role involves troubleshooting system issues, implementing software upgrades, configuring network protocols, and collaborating with IT teams and clinical staff to enhance imaging operations. The position requires expertise in DICOM standards, database management, and medical imaging technologies to support diagnostic radiology departments. The PACS Analyst also provides technical training to end users and ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards. 

Incumbent must reside in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area or be willing to relocate.  This position does not sponsor H1B visas. 
 
Experience And Education:
Required Education:

Experience:

  • 4 years of PACS Analyst experience in clinical systems

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Pharmacy; Current licensure by State Board of Pharmacy Upon Hire or
  • Physician assistant; current licensure by the State of Texas Upon Hire or
  • REGISTERED NURSE – Must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse through the National Council Licensure Examination – Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Upon Hire and
  • Nurse Practitioner; Must be credentialed through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center. Upon Hire

Required:

  • 4+ yrs as PACS Analyst for a Health System - Clinical setting

Preferred

  • Sectra

Licenses and Certifications:

  • PACS certification (Certified PACS Associate- CPAS, Certified DICOM Integration Professional- CDIP, Certified PACS Systems Analyst- CPSA) Upon Hire
  • Certification in a core health informatics application (e.g., Epic Cogito or Healthy Planet Analytics, Cerner Health Analytics, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or equivalent) Upon Hire
  • Certification in project management and/or business analysis (e.g., Certified Scrum Master, Disciplined Agile Scrum Master, PMI-Agile Certified Professional, PMI-Professional in Business Analysis, Certified Business Analysis Professional) Upon Hire

Job Duties:

  • Manages projects and serves as primary customer contact. Defines and maintains project plan and schedules. Monitors compliance with definitions of project scope, timelines, and deliverables. Provides regular project status reports to customer and internal management. Assists business analysts of lower grade to coordinate projects.
  • Collects, interprets and documents specifications required to develop new and revise existing software applications. Develops and implements operational plans for new and existing business computer applications. Participates in development of project proposals for customers.
  • Coordinates testing of new applications and changes to existing applications to ensure integrity and quality of data while providing and/or assisting in training of system users. Defines and develops test scenarios. Documents and tracks status of application errors and related issues in problem log. Assist programmers and business analysts of lower grade in analyzing and resolving problems.
  • Monitor PACS activities and resources, diagnoses system hardware and software problems, perform monitor calibrations, validates computer workstations, resolves problems according to established policies and procedures as required by assigned team.
  • Compiles complete, concise, and comprehensive policies and operation procedures to assist in communicating issues to applicable management staff.
  • Develops new system administrative procedures required utilizing new functionality resulting from system changes.
  • Assists in developing and implementing business strategies in departments to improve operational processing and productivity.
  • Monitors development of specifications and establishes priorities for accomplishing design and testing of various projects.
  • Reviews, develops, recommends, and implements activities, programs or functions as assigned. Maintains and tracks accounts assigned to projects or programs. Develops and maintains project plans. Provides project status reports.
  • Assists with a process improvement/quality improvement project committee to develop solutions to identified issues.
  • Chairperson, co-chair, or subject matter expert on two or more quality council (e.g. P&T or subcommittee, CQT, OQT, EQT, MS) or on a hospital based committee/task force or ambulatory governance committee and attend at least 85% of the meetings.
  • Routinely recommends and documents clinical interventions that should be taken in the electronic medical record.
  • Super user trainer for new programs or initiatives, and provides training to staff for implementation.
  • Involvement and precepting pharmacy, nursing or medical students, or be an approved resident preceptor.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to the CMIO’s and HSIR leadership as needed.
  • Providing technical guidance and/or business knowledge and direction to project team members with occasional supervision. Monitors industry trends for applicability, evaluating software and related technologies for recommendations.
  • Has a leading role in the medication safety perspective of technology initiatives and ongoing support of systems. Analyzes clinical data, recommending and developing system solutions that support patient care.
