The Engineering Director provides strategic leadership for the Engineering function, driving innovation, product development, and engineering excellence to support the organization's growth objectives. This role oversees Product Engineering and R&D while ensuring the successful execution of new product development, technology roadmaps, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Engineering Director collaborates cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership to deliver customer-focused solutions, optimize processes, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The position is responsible for developing engineering talent, managing departmental performance and budgets, and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute the engineering department's strategic vision and objectives in alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Product Engineering, Project Management, and Doc Control functions, including the team leads.
  • Build a defined R&D organization, implement the innovation process, and manage the group going forward. Develop and manage technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure that products and processes comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and relevant certifications.
  • Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Monitor expenses, control costs, and make recommendations for cost-saving initiatives.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience in a highly technical, custom engineering and Instrument Transformers environment with multiple reports from different sites and regions
  • Heavy exposure to a Lean culture
  • Skilled in change management and can harmonize multiple processes from different sites and legacy systems.
  • Experience with accountability for innovation, NPI, and NPD systems and processes
  • Has led strategic initiatives and has developed talent in a systemic manner.
  • Able to represent the technical side of Grid Amran in the industry amongst peers, vendors, technology partners, and customers.
  • Will be a collaborative part of a cross-functional senior management team that sets strategy, establishes standard work and best practices, and executes organizational problem-solving.
  • Able to support the Sales and Business Development Organization with strategic growth initiatives, opportunity execution, and key customer relationships.

What We Value

  • Ten (10) years of senior engineering management experience in a design and manufacturing environment
  • BS degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred, Advanced degree a plus
  • Demonstrated leader capable of setting measurable goals, team building, & follow-up to project completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop technical talent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to operate across diverse markets and customer demands.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, including Project & Visio
  • Must be able to travel to various Standex locations, Suppliers, & Customers
