Location: Jersey City, NJ

Job description:

We are seeking a Jira Administrator who will be responsible for the overall management, optimization, and governance of the organization’s Gov. Atlassian ecosystem — including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and other integrated tools. The role focuses on ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, timely renewals and license management, process optimization, and driving standardization across teams and projects. The Atlassian resource will act as the primary point of contact for all Atlassian-related initiatives and will partner with business, engineering, and IT stakeholders to ensure the tools align with organizational objectives and best practices.

Platform Administration & Operations

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance of all Atlassian tools (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.).
  • Manage user access, roles, groups, and permissions to ensure security and compliance.
  • Design, implement, and maintain workflows, schemes, dashboards, and automation rules.
  • Monitor system performance, handle escalations, and coordinate with Atlassian support as required.
  • Maintain integrations between Atlassian and third-party systems (e.g., Slack, GitHub, CI/CD tools).

License Management & Renewals

  • Maintain accurate records of all Atlassian product licenses and subscriptions.
  • Manage renewals and negotiate with vendors to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Track usage and ensure compliance with licensing policies.
  • Forecast license requirements based on organizational growth and project needs.

Optimization & Standardization

  • Develop and enforce governance frameworks, best practices, and standard configurations across all instances.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation to increase efficiency.
  • Drive consistency in workflow design, issue type management, and reporting structures.
  • Regularly review the Atlassian setup to eliminate redundancies and improve user experience.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Partner with IT, PMO, Engineering, and Business teams to align Atlassian tools with business needs.
  • Conduct periodic training, onboarding sessions, and user enablement initiatives.
  • Gather feedback from users to continuously enhance platform usability.
  • Support project managers and scrum masters in reporting, metrics, and agile process adoption.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for configurations, processes, and governance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with internal IT policies and data security guidelines.
  • Support audits and contribute to risk management processes.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience administering Gov. Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.), with at least 2 years in a senior administrator role.
  • Strong understanding of Gov. Jira workflows, schemes, automation, and REST APIs.  • Experience with user and project management at scale in multi-instance environments.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Cloud and Data Center deployments.
  • Knowledge of scripting (e.g., Groovy, Python, or PowerShell) and integration tools like ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, or Atlassian Connect.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Atlassian certifications (ACP series) preferred.
