Summary

Preface

Innovation in computational technology and scientific research demands more than just data, it requires the seamless convergence of machine learning and molecular science and high-stakes execution. At the core of this firm, the challenge is not merely managing systems, but architecting the infrastructure that enables breakthroughs.

StaffRight Associates is sourcing for a world-class firm where computational excellence is the standard. We are seeking an elite professional to join the foundational LLM research team. This is not a support role; it is a strategic position for a candidate who thrives in a research-intensive environment and understands that technical precision is the backbone of global-scale scientific problem-solving.

Academic & Research Pedigree

Our client’s environment demands exceptional intellectual rigor. While academic achievements are highly valued, StaffRight Associates is specifically targeting elite candidates who possess advanced degrees (Master’s with deep expertise or Ph.D.) in computer science, quantitative finance, computational biology, or other STEM-related disciplines.

Additionally, a strong track record of published research, hands-on academic exploration, or innovative technical contributions in high-performance computing, large language models, or advanced scientific computing is highly preferred.

The Mission

As a Foundational LLM Research Engineer, you will act as a force multiplier for the team. Your mission is to eliminate systemic friction, allowing leadership to maintain an absolute focus on accelerating large-scale multimodal LLM training and molecular model development.

You will transform abstract organizational challenges into high-impact, actionable outcomes. Working at the intersection of proprietary hardware architecture and sophisticated algorithms, you will ensure that the firm’s technical output consistently pushes the boundaries of computational drug discovery and atomic-level molecular simulation.

Core Technical Objectives

  • Orchestrate systemic workflows: own and execute complex, high-stakes protocols to ensure seamless operational velocity and distributed scaling for the machine learning research team.

  • Distill complex data: spearhead technical research, designing sophisticated data pipelines and translating multifaceted, non-text modalities (molecular graphs, 3D structures, time series) into precise frameworks that drive strategic research decisions.

  • Optimize frameworks: validate and refine intricate technical requirements across pre-training, instruction tuning, reinforcement learning, and contrastive learning to ensure systemic accuracy and operational resilience.

  • Engineer multi-project solutions: navigate concurrent computational workflows using a proactive Goal-Execution-Mapping (GEM) approach to preempt bottlenecks across cutting-edge proprietary infrastructure.

  • Facilitate elite communication: serve as a key interface between the interdisciplinary scientific committee and critical technical stakeholders, upholding the highest standards of professional discretion.

Candidate DNA

  • Architectural mindset: you approach problems with a focus on efficiency and resilience. You have deep expertise in large-scale machine learning systems and LLM architecture, executing with autonomous precision under pressure.

  • Proactive problem-solving: you don''''t just react to infrastructure limitations; you anticipate bottlenecks in distributed/parallel training and resolve them before they impact the workflow.

  • Communication precision: you translate complex technical, mathematical, and algorithmic concepts into clear, articulate insights for elite scientific and business minds.

  • Cross-functional agility: you pivot effortlessly between rigorous systems operations and deep technical inquiry, maintaining momentum in a high-performance ecosystem where biology meets artificial intelligence.

About the Client

The company develops and uses advanced computational technologies to understand the behavior of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules at an atomic level of detail, designing precisely targeted, highly selective drugs for the treatment of various diseases.

Among its core technologies are proprietary, custom-built special-purpose supercomputers designed to vastly accelerate the process of molecular dynamics simulation. The firm integrates these custom platforms and high-speed commodity hardware with advanced machine learning methods and other computational techniques to power both internal and collaborative drug discovery programs.

Structure & Perks

  • Compensation: highly competitive base salary ($450k – $1M) supplemented by generous sign-on and year-end bonuses.

  • Work style: hybrid schedule (Tuesday–Thursday in the Manhattan office; Monday and Friday remote).

  • Benefits: comprehensive relocation, immigration assistance, and premier health and wellness benefits.
