Summary

Job Title: Sr. Solutions Architect Cloud Infrastructure
Location: Remote (Need to attend PI Planning Events at Washington DC once a quarter)
Duration: 12+ Months

Job Summary:

The Solutions Architect for Cloud Infrastructure is responsible for defining and advancing the enterprise architecture for cloud infrastructure. The role provides hands-on architecture leadership across infrastructure as a service, cloud networking, cloud security, and infrastructure as code. Working through influence rather than direct authority, the Architect establishes target-state architectures, reference standards, patterns, and roadmaps that align cloud infrastructure investments with business priorities, improve delivery speed and consistency, and reduce operational cost and risk.

The Architect communicates the cloud infrastructure target state, strategic roadmaps, architecture decisions, and progress toward planned outcomes to leaders, engineers, delivery teams, and other stakeholders. The role builds alignment through clear communication, technical credibility, thought leadership, and trusted relationships; evangelizes approved architecture principles and reusable patterns; and influences adoption across the organization without direct people-management responsibility. The Architect works across identity and access management, cybersecurity, networking, platform engineering, and compliance functions to integrate security controls, policy requirements, and infrastructure-as-code capabilities into cloud architecture. This includes promoting automated infrastructure delivery through continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and aligning architecture with applicable requirements and frameworks, including PCI DSS, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, FRA regulations, and other organizational compliance obligations.

The Architect translates business, security, and operational requirements into actionable cloud infrastructure architecture direction. The role evaluates options, makes technology recommendations, resolves complex cross-domain design issues, and works directly with engineers to demonstrate how approved architectures, patterns, security controls, and infrastructure-as-code practices are implemented. Through hands-on guidance, reference implementations, design walkthroughs, and technical coaching, the Architect builds engineering capability so teams can independently execute consistent, compliant, and scalable solutions that advance the target-state architecture and enterprise priorities.

Responsibilities:

Define the enterprise vision, target state, and roadmaps for cloud infrastructure, including infrastructure as a service, networking, security, identity integration, infrastructure as code, automation, observability, resilience, and lifecycle management. Maintain clear ownership boundaries and integration points with the Cloud Platforms Architect responsible for platform-as-a-service and developer platform capabilities.

Establish and govern cloud infrastructure principles, standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns for designing, provisioning, securing, connecting, deploying, operating, and maintaining infrastructure across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Govern current, transitional, and target-state cloud infrastructure architectures. Assess tradeoffs, dependencies, risks, technical debt, and cross-domain impacts across infrastructure, networking, security, identity, and infrastructure as code.

Translate cybersecurity, identity, policy, and regulatory requirements including PCI DSS, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, FRA regulations, and other organizational obligations into secure, resilient, and implementable cloud infrastructure controls and patterns.

Drive adoption and reuse of approved cloud infrastructure patterns, modules, controls, processes, and technologies. Partner with the Cloud Platforms Architect to ensure infrastructure foundations and platform services integrate through clear interfaces, shared controls, and compatible delivery patterns.

Promote consistent cloud infrastructure architecture practices, reusable engineering approaches, portfolio alignment, and disciplined adoption of approved standards through thought leadership, technical credibility, and cross-functional influence.

Mentor architects, engineers, and delivery teams through hands-on guidance, reference implementations, design walkthroughs, infrastructure-as-code examples, and technical coaching. Build team capability to independently deliver consistent, compliant, scalable, and supportable solutions.

Develop cloud infrastructure roadmaps and transition plans that prioritize capabilities based on business value, risk, resilience, security, compliance, technical debt, and dependencies. Coordinate milestones and integration points with the Cloud Platforms Architect.

Guide cloud infrastructure investment decisions by evaluating proposed capabilities, technologies, sourcing options, and funding priorities against business strategy, target-state architecture, cost, risk, resilience, security, compliance, and operational sustainability.

Provide architecture governance and design oversight for secure, resilient, scalable, automated, observable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions. Review designs, document decisions, resolve complex issues, and guide implementation, partnering with the Cloud Platforms Architect when infrastructure decisions affect platform services.

Translate cloud infrastructure concepts, tradeoffs, security and compliance requirements, and implementation impacts into clear, decision-ready guidance. Serve as the senior cloud infrastructure architecture liaison between Digital Technology and business teams, building alignment and driving informed decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, data and intelligence or related field with 13+ year s relevant experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience creating significant business value realization with $500 million+ or more enterprises as an architect providing vision and choosing platforms moving organizations forward and scaled for expanding future initiatives.
  • 9+ years of relevant technical and business experience with 2 to 3 years working in an Architecture Practice area.
  • Requires experience in influencing senior level management, senior level engineering, and other key business stakeholders.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to manage multiple architecture engagements simultaneously and effectively drive planning and stakeholder participation to ensure architecual conformance.
  • Previous experience scaling architecture teams, growing talent and guiding portfolio transformation initiatives.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others in an integrated team environment, and must be self-motivated.
  • Must possess a mastery of business acumen.
  • Relationship building and collaboration skills across diverse and matrixed stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to surface, prioritize, and balance priorities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including experience leveraging data to inform decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master s degree in business or related field.
  • Travel and Transportation experience or relevant technology domain experience.
  • Experience with governance, risk, regulatory and compliance.
  • The Architect s skills and knowledge should span multiple architecture domains (e.g., Business Architecture, Application/Solution Architecture, Technical/Infrastructure Architecture & Information/Data Architecture).
