Strong installers that have drilled and mounted anchors for racks in Data Centers, done rack, stack and cabling work in Data Centers are required.
Liquid cooling experience is preferred.
Mostly dedicated to the Chicago metro. Occasional travel. On-site at customer data centers in the area.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience performing rack-and-stack installations in datacenter environments.
- Experience with server, network, and storage hardware deployment and repair.
- Knowledge of structured cabling and datacenter infrastructure.
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting and break-fix activities.
- Ability to read rack elevations, schematics, and deployment documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to lift and install datacenter hardware safely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Liquid Cooled Rack (LCR) environments.
- Experience with CDU systems and high-density compute deployments.
- Fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation experience.
- OTDR and fiber certification experience.
- Familiarity with hyperscale or enterprise datacenter operations.
- Experience working with OEM vendors and remote engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Rack & Stack Operations
- Install, rack, cable, label, and document servers, network equipment, storage devices, and supporting infrastructure.
- Perform hardware replacements, upgrades, decommissions, and break-fix repairs.
- Install rails, cable management systems, PDUs, and other rack infrastructure.
- Verify deployments against engineering designs and rack elevation plans.
- Support datacenter buildouts, expansions, and refresh projects.
Liquid Cooled Rack (LCR) Support
- Support deployment and maintenance of liquid-cooled rack environments.
- Assist with CDU installations, coolant distribution systems, and associated hardware.
- Perform visual inspections and basic troubleshooting of liquid cooling infrastructure.
- Follow all safety and operational procedures related to liquid-cooled systems.
- Support engineering teams during high-density compute deployments.
Fiber & Connectivity Support
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and document fiber infrastructure.
- Perform OTDR, optical loss, and continuity testing as required.
- Support fiber-related break-fix and deployment activities.
- Maintain patch panels, fiber pathways, and cable management standards.
- Provide test results and documentation to engineering teams.
Data Center Operations
- Support change management and maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate installation, asset, and connectivity records.
- Ensure adherence to safety, security, and quality standards.
- Provide remote hands support for internal teams and third-party vendors.
Overview
The Datacenter Installation Specialist is responsible for the installation, deployment, maintenance, and repair of datacenter infrastructure. This role is primarily focused on rack-and-stack activities, server and network hardware deployment, hardware break-fix operations, and support of liquid-cooled rack (LCR) environments.
The specialist will work closely with engineering teams, vendors, and datacenter operations personnel to support new deployments, capacity expansions, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure maintenance activities. Fiber installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation will be required to support hardware deployments and network connectivity within the datacenter.
Experience with liquid-cooled rack environments and high-density compute infrastructure is highly preferred.
