CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Drafting/CAD Technician I.

Education: 2-year technical degree or equivalent drafting experience with a drafting certificate

Description

The Drafting/CAD Technician I will support drawing management, technical design, documentation, and improvement projects. This role will maintain accurate and accessible technical drawings while collaborating with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to develop and update equipment designs and manufacturing documentation.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintain and coordinate technical drawings and drawing-management systems.
• Create, update, and maintain detailed manufacturing and engineering drawings.
• Develop drawing packages and project documentation, including drawings, spare parts information, procedures, and schedules.
• Support equipment design and improvement projects.
• Use technical drawings to assist Engineering and Maintenance teams with equipment troubleshooting.
• Apply CAD and drafting skills to develop practical design solutions.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, organized, and compliant with applicable standards.
• Work independently and collaboratively to meet project deadlines and quality requirements.

Requirements:

• Experience with Creo cabling and electrical diagrams.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Experience with Windchill/PDM or similar drawing-management systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Strong problem-solving, design, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant drafting, CAD, or technical design experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Experience with Creo cabling, electrical diagrams, and AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Experience with Windchill/PDM or similar drawing-vault systems.
• Strong technical curiosity and ability to identify effective design solutions.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems.
• Manufacturing-environment experience is preferred.
• Candidates should have focused training or experience in CAD/drafting. Advanced engineering degrees without substantial hands-on CAD/drafting experience are not aligned with the requirements of this position.
