Job Title: Senior Data Governance & Stewardship Analyst
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Governance & Stewardship Analyst to join our enterprise data management team. You will be the primary engine behind our data quality and metadata initiatives, working to transform raw data into a reliable, trusted enterprise asset.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between business intent and technical reality. You will be responsible for defining metadata, identifying the root causes of data quality issues, and executing the remediation plans that ensure our data meets the highest standards of maturity. If you are an analytical, process-oriented professional who enjoys "cleaning up" complex environments and building sustainable governance frameworks, this is an ideal role for you.
Key Responsibilities
Stewardship & Metadata Management
Metadata Lifecycle: Define, document, and maintain business definitions, data attributes, and enterprise standards. Ensure that our data dictionary remains accurate and reflects the actual usage of data across the business.
Quality Assurance: Review and validate data profiling results. Use these insights to proactively identify "data pain points" and determine their root causes.
Remediation Planning: Plan and execute approved data quality remediation activities. Monitor the effectiveness of these fixes to ensure they are sustainable.
Business & Technical Collaboration
Business Context: Provide essential context regarding dataset usage-explaining how data is created, consumed, and where dependencies exist across our enterprise systems.
Technical Integration: Partner with System Owners and Technical Stewards to validate data lineage, ensure system behavior matches business expectations, and guarantee that metadata rules are embedded into our architecture.
Risk Management: Act as the primary escalation point for risks or gaps that could prevent datasets from achieving "required maturity." Maintain oversight of the project's control readiness.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Baseline: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in data governance, data stewardship, or advanced data analysis.
Stewardship Mastery: Deep understanding of metadata management and the lifecycle of data within large, complex organizations.
Analytical Ability: Proven track record of identifying data quality "bottlenecks," performing root-cause analysis, and managing technical remediation workflows.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills-you must be comfortable working in a matrixed environment and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
Preferred Attributes
Experience with enterprise data governance tooling (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar).
Proven experience supporting "Control Readiness" or audit-compliant data frameworks.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high-frequency engagement with internal business partners.
