Duties

Help

  • Serves as the subject matter expert for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Automated Testing (AT) development within the UiPath platform.
  • Provides expert technical knowledge and leadership for developing, deploying, and maintaining automations and test cases that interact with enterprise systems to meet requirements specified by DLA process owners.
  • Develops and maintains design documents for RPA projects and Test Plan documents for automated testing initiatives.
  • Develops coding for the most complex automation components and test scripts, utilizing advanced UiPath features (e.g., REFramework, Test Suite) and adhering to established frameworks.
  • Provides an RPA and AT development perspective on functional requirements, advising on automation feasibility, testability, and potential return on investment.
  • Advises on the integration of UiPath automations and test scripts with Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) software, including ERPs and legacy systems.
  • Provides expertise to project teams to ensure that automation designs, test strategies, and code are consistent with enterprise architecture, security policy, and efficient system performance.
  • Provides expert advice on the impacts, risks, and risk mitigation strategies for automation and test development decisions, schedules, and designs.
  • Serves as a technical mentor to team members on advanced UiPath development methods, automated testing best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (APPSW), your qualifications must include:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Uses the UiPath Platform (Studio, Orchestrator, Test Manager) and related programming languages (e.g., Visual Basic, VB.Net, C#, C++,Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL) to design, build, test, and deploy enterprise-grade process automations and automated test cases that satisfy user requirements.
  • Develops coding for complex automation projects and comprehensive test sets, including the use of the Robotic Enterprise Framework (REFramework), data-driven testing techniques, and integration with APIs and web services. Adheres to and ensures others adhere to programming and development standards.
  • Coordinates with others, including system administrators, quality assurance teams, and business analysts, to develop and execute comprehensive test plans for both application testing and RPA process validation, ensuring the integrity and reliability of automated solutions.
  • Manages and governs the RPA and Test environments using UiPath Orchestrator and Test Manager, including deploying packages, managing test data, scheduling test executions, and analyzing results.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or FJO being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position.

The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.

ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is illegal.
