Summary

Location: Tempe,Arizona
Expected Start Date: Nov 30, 2026

What if your next release made it easier for someone to learn a new skill, change careers, or get back into education?
  • We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and improve digital learning platforms that expand access to education. You'll get the variety of a startup-style product team, with room to shape the architecture, ship features yourself, and help other engineers grow. If you enjoy turning a rough idea into a working feature and making the next release easier for everyone, you'll have plenty to dig into here.

    Location Tempe, AZ
  • 6-month Contract to hire
  • Hybrid role - 3 days a week on-site, 2 days a week at home
  • Hourly rate and then salary conversion after contract terms

What you'll get to build
  • Turn learner needs and early product ideas into technical designs, then break the work into features the team can ship and test in stages.
  • Stay hands-on from design through production. Write code and tests, own releases, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Design and improve the systems behind the product, including AWS infrastructure, APIs, data storage, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Make life easier for fellow developers by automating repetitive work, improving test coverage, and writing runbooks people can actually use.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to set sprint priorities, explain technical trade-offs, and make time for security, reliability, and code quality.
  • Mentor junior engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and hands-on problem-solving.

What you'll bring
  • A bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ideally, at least three years building software on a product team, with experience delivering work in Agile sprints.
  • Strong software architecture and troubleshooting skills, plus the ability to turn an ambiguous request into a clear plan.
  • 3+ years of Experience with AWS and familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD.
  • 5+ years of Experience with some of the technologies used across the team, including TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Vue.js, Nuxt.js, Python, and PHP.
  • Clear communication skills and an interest in helping other engineers get better at their craft.

Sound like your kind of work? Apply with your rsum. We'd love to hear about a feature you took from idea to production or a system you left better than you found it.
