Oracle / SQL Developer

We are seeking an experienced Oracle / SQL Developer with strong expertise in Oracle database development, SQL, PL/SQL, Unix scripting, batch processing, and data engineering. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of Oracle database architecture and performance optimization, along with expert-level experience in Python and PySpark.

This role will contribute to the design, development, optimization, and support of database solutions and data-processing applications. The successful candidate will also use modern development practices, including GitHub-based source control and GitHub Copilot to improve development efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database objects and applications.
• Create and manage:
• Tables
• Views
• Indexes
• Partitioned tables and indexes
• Stored procedures, functions, and packages
• Develop efficient and maintainable SQL and PL/SQL code.
• Analyze and improve SQL performance using:
• Execution plans
• Oracle optimizer behavior
• Appropriate indexing strategies
• Query optimization techniques
• Optimizer hints
• Support database partitioning strategies and understand different partitioning methods.
• Develop and maintain Unix/KornShell scripts using utilities such as:
• sed
• awk
• grep
• SQL*Plus
• Invoke and manage SQL*Plus sessions from shell scripts.
• Develop and support batch-processing workflows using AutoSys.
• Manage enterprise file transfers using NDM / Connect:Direct.
• Design and implement data-processing solutions using Python and PySpark.
• Automate data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reconciliation processes.
• Use GitHub as a source-code repository and follow branching, pull request, and code-review practices.
• Use GitHub Copilot responsibly to accelerate development, improve productivity, and assist with code generation, refactoring, and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and provide timely technical support.
• Collaborate with application developers, data engineers, business analysts, and infrastructure teams.
• Prepare technical documentation, support procedures, and implementation plans.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Advanced experience with Oracle RDBMS.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and PL/SQL development.
• Experience creating and managing Oracle database objects, including:
• Tables
• Views
• Indexes
• Partitioned objects
• Procedures
• Functions
• Packages
• Triggers
• Strong understanding of:
• Table partitioning
• Different index types and their appropriate use cases
• Query optimization
• Optimizer hints
• Execution plans and plan analysis
• ANSI SQL standards
• Dynamic SQL using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
• Autonomous transactions
• Advanced experience with Unix/Linux and KornShell scripting.
• Proficiency with sed, awk, grep, file handling, process control, and SQL*Plus shell execution.
• Experience with AutoSys job scheduling and workflow management.
• Experience with NDM / Connect:Direct file transfers.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python.
• Expert-level proficiency in PySpark, including distributed data processing and performance optimization.
• Experience using GitHub for source control and code collaboration.
• Familiarity with GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted software development tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing large-scale batch-processing or data-engineering solutions.
• Experience working with high-volume Oracle databases and performance-sensitive applications.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT development and data-quality processes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms and distributed computing environments.
• Experience establishing coding standards, reusable frameworks, and development best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
