This position is well suited for someone who is comfortable working directly in production settings, solving issues that affect uptime, and coordinating closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams. The role combines hands-on technical problem solving with cross-functional collaboration to keep plant systems, user devices, and industrial networks running reliably.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day technical support for plant operations, ensuring systems used across manufacturing sites remain stable, accessible, and responsive to production needs.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving industrial networks, end-user devices, software platforms, and connected equipment that may interrupt plant performance.
- Support communication and connectivity among PLCs, HMIs, operator stations, and other manufacturing technologies used on the production floor.
- Maintain and improve plant-floor infrastructure such as switches, wireless components, industrial network hardware, and workstation endpoints.
- Work closely with controls engineers, maintenance staff, and production teams to identify root causes of operational technology issues and restore functionality quickly.
- Coordinate installation, upkeep, and troubleshooting for industrial PCs, manufacturing applications, and operator-facing hardware used in daily operations.
- Track network and system performance within production environments and take proactive steps to reduce downtime and operational disruption.
- Contribute to infrastructure enhancements, facility expansion efforts, and other technology improvement projects across manufacturing locations.
- Keep accurate records of configurations, support activities, asset inventories, and technical procedures to support ongoing operations and future maintenance.
- Partner with corporate IT resources and external service providers when advanced escalation or specialized support is needed, including travel between facilities for onsite assistance.
Requirements Requirements:
- At least 3 years of hands-on technical support experience in a manufacturing, industrial, production, or distribution setting.
- Practical knowledge of Windows-based environments, desktop support, hardware troubleshooting, and network issue resolution.
- Familiarity with industrial automation concepts, including PLC operation, HMI interaction, and communication between plant-floor control systems.
- Experience supporting wired and wireless networking in industrial environments, with understanding of TCP/IP, switching, routing, and common troubleshooting practices.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in active manufacturing facilities while supporting equipment and users in production areas.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across IT, engineering, maintenance, and operations teams
- Willingness to travel 20% to 25% of the time between company facilities as business needs require.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; comparable practical experience will also be considered.
