The OpportunityWe are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Grand Rapids that are seeking skilled Applications Engineers. Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to understand application requirements for new and existing products.
- Design, develop, and test software applications for manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and debug application issues, providing timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on application functionality and best practices.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for applications, including specifications, user manuals, and test plans.
- Implement and optimize control systems and automation solutions within manufacturing environments.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and maintenance.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve application performance and efficiency.
Recommended Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial) or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical sales, or field support within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, and relevant industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
Bonus Qualifications- Experience with PLM/PDM systems
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
- Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis or automation
- Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation and training materials
