Diagnostic Technician
On site in Allen, Texas
Shift: 6am to 2:30pm (Monday thru Friday)
Pay Rate: $25/hour
This role is responsible for analyzing and resolving electronic failures at the component level across a variety of Mobile and Fixed Video systems. Daily work includes using diagnostic equipment, test stations, and other troubleshooting tools to evaluate system performance, isolate faults, and determine the source of product failures. The position also requires reviewing schematics, engineering documentation, and inspection reports to support accurate diagnosis and efficient resolution.
The technician will work closely with Engineering and Customer Service teams to communicate findings, document issues, and recommend whether units should be repaired or replaced. Diagnostic results must be clearly captured in reports, and defect activity will be tracked within SAP to support resolution efforts. The role also supports multiple product lines, requiring adaptability, cross-training, and the ability to shift between processes as business needs change.
Qualified candidates should have 4–7 years of experience diagnosing analog and digital circuit boards, along with strong root-cause problem-solving ability. Experience with burn-in and functional testing is required, as well as familiarity with digital electronics such as microcontrollers, memory, FPGAs, and low-power signals. A solid understanding of ESD handling practices, schematic reading, PCB component tracing, and basic computer and networking concepts—including MAC IDs and IP addresses—is expected. IPC 610 or J-STD soldering certification is required. A high school diploma or GED is required, while an associate degree or higher in a related technical field is preferred.
