Skills

  • Industrial Network Engineer (AI Enablement)

Summary

About the Role
A large integrated energy company is standing up a new dedicated team to bring structure and security to how artificial intelligence is adopted across its operations. We are looking for a network engineer who can support the operational technology (OT) side of that effort, helping teams connect AI use cases to industrial environments safely, reliably and quickly. You will be a hands on engineer who understands both how industrial networks work and how modern AI workflows depend on them.

What You Will Do

  • Design, configure and support routing, switching and network security for industrial and operational technology environments

  • Partner with OT engineers and operations teams to understand their data and connectivity needs, then deliver secure network paths for AI and analytics use cases

  • Help establish standards and guardrails so AI initiatives connect to plant, field and edge systems in a consistent and secure way

  • Support segmentation, secure remote access and data flows between operational networks, edge locations and cloud platforms

  • Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, document designs, and contribute to network changes and rollouts

  • Rotate across other network projects as priorities shift, with occasional travel to operating sites

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of hands on network engineering experience in enterprise or industrial environments

  • Strong working knowledge of routing, switching and firewalls (for example, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, segmentation and major firewall platforms)

  • A solid, practical understanding of how AI tools and workflows work, including experience integrating or automating AI driven workflows beyond casual use of an assistant

  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to engineers and non network stakeholders

  • Comfort working in a fast moving, newly formed team and building standards from the ground up

  • Based in the Houston area and able to work onsite

Nice to Have

  • Experience with OT, industrial control or SCADA networks, or exposure to industrial standards such as IEC 62443 and the Purdue model

  • Experience with industrial networking gear and OT security or monitoring tools

  • Scripting or automation skills (such as Python or Ansible)

  • Background in oil and gas, energy, utilities or manufacturing
