Location: Pleasanton, California (Partial Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead technology initiatives within a healthcare research department. This role is at the intersection of project management, IT infrastructure, and information security, driving the planning and execution of systems that support clinical trials, research data management, and scientific computing environments. A key focus will be leading the development and installation of an Agentic AI solution, guiding the project from requirements and design through secure deployment and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects supporting research operations, including clinical data systems, research databases, and scientific computing platforms.
• Develop and maintain project charters, scope documents, timelines, budgets, resource plans, and risk registers.
• Manage cross-functional teams of IT staff, researchers, data scientists, vendors, and external partners.
• Apply structured project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) appropriate to project complexity and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with infrastructure and security teams to ensure projects align with enterprise architecture standards and data storage practices.
• Lead the project management of an Agentic AI solution, coordinating with data science, IT architecture, and security teams.
• Manage the technical installation and configuration of the solution within the existing infrastructure.
• Oversee risk assessment and security review processes specific to AI agents.
• Develop and track a phased rollout plan with defined success metrics and user acceptance testing.
• Ensure projects adhere to institutional change management, validation, and documentation standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of IT project management experience, including 3+ years in healthcare, life sciences, or research environments.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of IT infrastructure concepts: networking, servers, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform), virtualization, and data storage architectures.
• Solid understanding of IT security principles, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
• Specific experience in AI infrastructure, including understanding GPU limitations and AI rack solutions.
• Familiarity with healthcare and research compliance frameworks (HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP).
• Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects with competing priorities.
• Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Asana).

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
• Security certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CISM) or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with research-specific systems: REDCap, clinical trial management systems (CTMS), electronic data capture (EDC), or laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Familiarity with scientific or high-performance computing environments.
• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience leading the deployment of AI/ML or agentic AI solutions in a regulated environment.
