Location: Greater Des Moines Area - 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
Salary: $100,000 - 120,000 base + exceptional benefits

COBOL Developer + Platform Administrator
Hybrid (Central Time) or Fully Remote - U.S.

This is a rare opportunity to work on a business-critical Life & Health policy administration system that continues to be invested in-not phased out. The platform runs on COBOL + JCL in an HP-9000 / Unix environment and sits at the core of the business.
You'll join a small, experienced team, gain real ownership, and learn a unique third-party modernization platform through hands-on mentoring from a senior team member.

What You'll Do
Develop and enhance COBOL applications supporting policy administration, billing, payments, eligibility, and self-service
Support and troubleshoot JCL batch processing and long-running jobs
Perform platform and batch administration in an HP-9000 / Unix environment
Monitor, schedule, and resolve production issues
Spend ~75% in development and 25% in platform administration

What We're Looking For
Strong COBOL development experience
Working knowledge of JCL, batch jobs, and scheduling
Experience on Unix or Linux (HP-3000 / HP-9000 a plus)
Comfort supporting production systems and complex business logic
Transferable admin experience, such as:
Supporting legacy or emulated platforms
Job control, monitoring, or system support
Platform migrations or modernization efforts
Experience with the specific third-party platform is not required-you'll be trained onsite.
