Technical Project Manager
- 12 month + contract with hire possibility
- Remote with limited travel for occasional meetings in Dallas ( Expenses paid) - once/month
- Client is a billion dollar Managed Serviced Provider / Co-lo.
The Technical Project Manager will support a large‑scale data center migration, environment separation, and greenfield implementation of distributed Open Systems, AD, Windows, Citrix, network, VMware, and cloud modernization initiatives. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing infrastructure‑centric workstreams while collaborating closely with a team of 3–4 project managers, technical leads, and client stakeholders.
The TPM ensures structured execution, risk management, and senior executive level reporting for complex technical projects spanning servers, storage, networking, VMware virtualization, and cloud migration. This position requires hands‑on technical understanding, strong coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical project planning, scheduling, RAID tracking, and delivery execution for data center migration
- Coordinate activities across Open Systems Engineering teams and Technical Managers including technologies such as compute, storage, networking, and VMware.
- Create and maintain Project governance, reporting cadence, and integration across multiple PMs and technical leads.
- Manage scope, risks, dependencies, and change control
- Ensure adherence to project management best practices, change management processes, and delivery methodologies.
- Provide clear, executive‑level status reporting to both client leadership and internal management.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with architects, operations, security, and external vendors.
Experience & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Project management including experience in managing technical infrastructure or data center migration projects.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure components: Windows Servers, Active Directory, Citrix, Networking and connectivity, VMware and virtualization platforms, and Cloud
- Previous work within a IT outsourcing or Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment strongly desired.
- Proven success leading complex infrastructure modernization efforts, including: Data center Greenfield builds, migrations to Cloud, transformation initiatives. Any experience with mainframe projects will be great to have
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present at the senior management level.
- Strong proficiency in risk management, change management, and structured delivery frameworks.
- Understanding of ITIL and ITSM principles would be needed
- PMP or equivalent project certification beneficial but not required.
The anticipated hourly rate range for this position is ($70.00-85.00), during the contract period. Actual hourly rate will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law. A range of medical, dental, retirement and/or other benefits are available after a waiting period.
