Position Summary
The Licensing Manager will oversee and manage all licensing requirements across the company?s Design, Manufacturing, and Construction operations.
This role ensures the organization maintains compliance with municipal, state, and federal licensing regulations governing construction activities, professional trades, and facility operations.
The Licensing Manager will lead a small team responsible for monitoring, applying for, renewing, and maintaining licenses critical to operating seamlessly and legally across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
Licensing & Compliance
  • \tOversee all licensing activities related to construction, trades, and manufacturing operations.
  • \tManage municipal, state, and national licensing requirements for:

o\tConstruction contracting
o\tTrades certifications (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.)
o\tProfessional and business licenses
o\tFacility and manufacturing compliance licenses
  • \tMaintain an up-to-date understanding of licensing requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
  • \tEnsure timely submission and renewal of all required licenses to minimize operational risk from expired or lapsed authorizations.

Leadership & Team Management
  • \tManage and mentor a team of 1?3 licensing specialists.
  • \tDistribute workloads, establish priorities, and ensure accuracy in license tracking and documentation.
  • \tFoster a culture of accountability, attention to detail, and proactive compliance management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • \tPartner with Design, Manufacturing, and Construction teams to anticipate licensing needs tied to new projects, expansions, or market entries.
  • \tWork closely with Legal, HR, and Operations to ensure individual and organizational licensing requirements align with state and municipal regulations.
  • \tServe as the primary point of contact for licensing authorities, regulatory bodies, and inspectors.

Systems & Documentation
  • \tDevelop and maintain a centralized licensing management system to track application dates, renewal cycles, and jurisdiction-specific requirements.
  • \tProvide regular reports to leadership on:

o\tLicensing status
o\tUpcoming renewals
o\tPotential compliance risks
  • \tStandardize documentation processes to improve efficiency and ensure audit readiness.

  • \tStrong knowledge of municipal and state-level construction and trades licensing requirements.
  • \tFamiliarity with compliance frameworks and regulatory processes within construction and manufacturing environments.
  • \tExcellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple licenses and deadlines simultaneously.
  • \tStrong interpersonal skills for working with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
  • \tProficiency with digital tools and systems used for license tracking and compliance management.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • \t5+ years managing licensing and compliance in construction, manufacturing, or design environments.
  • \tPrevious experience leading or supervising a small team.
