Assistant Construction Superintendent - Contract / United States
Location: New Carlisle / South Bend, Indiana. Michigan and Ohio
Candidates may be located anywhere in the United States, provided they are highly willing and able to travel to client project sites on a long-term basis.
The client is seeking an experienced Assistant Construction Superintendent for large-scale commercial, industrial, advanced manufacturing, data center, and mission-critical construction projects throughout the United States. This is a contract opportunity requiring 70%+ nationwide travel and long-term project assignments. The role focuses on hands-on field execution across multiple construction disciplines, including MEP, concrete, structural steel, underground utilities, fire alarm systems, building finishes, and building envelope/enclosure systems. A valid U.S. driver's license and passport are required.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on construction leader who knows how to build and loves to build. The ideal candidate will take ownership of field operations, lead subcontractors and skilled craft personnel, and help deliver complex projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You'll gain exposure to fast-paced, high-value commercial and industrial projects while working alongside project leadership, clients, trade partners, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams. Candidates with data center, hyperscale, mission-critical, or advanced manufacturing experience will have an opportunity to apply that expertise to some of the industry's most demanding construction environments.
Contract Duration: 12 - 24 Months
Required Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in commercial, industrial, advanced manufacturing, data center, or similar facility construction.
  • Demonstrated experience working on commercial or industrial projects valued at $15M+.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Experience coordinating multiple construction disciplines, including:
    • MEP
    • Concrete
    • Structural steel
    • Underground utilities
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Building finishes
    • Building envelope/enclosure systems
  • Experience leading subcontractors, craft personnel, and multidisciplinary field teams.
  • Experience planning and coordinating day-to-day field construction activities.
  • Ability to manage manpower, materials, equipment, sequencing, and field resources.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
  • Strong safety awareness and experience enforcing project safety procedures.
  • Experience identifying construction hazards, deficiencies, schedule risks, and field constraints.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Valid U.S. passport.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 70%+ nationwide for extended project assignments.

Daily Responsibilities
  • 40% Hands-On Field Execution
    • Coordinate and supervise daily construction activities.
    • Determine appropriate construction methods, manpower, materials, equipment, and sequencing.
    • Verify work follows approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
    • Identify and resolve field issues before they affect the project.
  • 25% Management & Supervision
    • Lead subcontractors, trade partners, craft employees, and field personnel.
    • Monitor labor, materials, equipment, inspections, and schedule requirements.
    • Identify schedule risks and coordinate corrective actions.
    • Mentor and develop field personnel.
  • 20% Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, MEP, and other construction disciplines.
    • Communicate with project managers, executives, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and union representatives.
    • Participate in project meetings and provide accurate field-progress updates.
  • 15% Safety, Quality & Project Controls
    • Promote and maintain a strong project safety culture.
    • Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
    • Monitor construction quality and coordinate resolution of deficiencies.
    • Support inspections, commissioning, project closeout, and continuous improvement initiatives.
