About the RoleOur client is seeking a
Network Engineer to support enterprise network operations while contributing to key
modernization and lifecycle refresh initiatives. This is a
4-month contract opportunity focused on maintaining network stability, reducing ticket backlog, and assisting with infrastructure upgrades across a global environment.
This individual will act as a
Tier 1 Network Support Engineer, owning incident triage and resolution while collaborating closely with cross-functional IT teams. Although escalation to Tier 2 is available, the expectation is to
resolve the majority of issues independently.
Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Operations & Support- Serve as the primary Tier 1 support resource for network-related tickets and incidents
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless environments
- Partner with internal IT teams to triage and resolve network issues efficiently
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify areas for improvement
- Support SD-WAN environments, including routing policies and connectivity troubleshooting
Modernization & Lifecycle Initiatives- Assist with network hardware refresh and modernization efforts across enterprise environments
- Support the deployment, replacement, and decommissioning of network infrastructure devices
- Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of network assets and lifecycle stages
Implementation & Optimization- Contribute to network enhancements aligned with architectural and security best practices
- Execute test plans and validate network changes and deployments
- Identify opportunities to improve network reliability, automation, and operational processes
Collaboration & Communication- Work closely with global and cross-functional stakeholders
- Communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Maintain strong working relationships across IT teams
Required Qualifications- Hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies (routing, switching, wireless, firewalls)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in incident resolution and root cause analysis
- Experience supporting large-scale network environments
- Solid understanding of network security principles and segmentation
- Familiarity with change management practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in English (required)
Preferred Experience- Experience with:
- Juniper / HPE (Layer 3 routing & switching)
- Aruba wireless solutions
- Palo Alto firewalls
- HPE SD-WAN (nice to have)
- Exposure to multi-vendor network environments
- Experience with automation or template-based network management tools
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and structured lifecycle management processes

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
