Rate: $25-$30 per/hr
Role Overview
The AV Support Technician provides essential AV services, technical support, and videoconferencing support for technology-enhanced classrooms and learning spaces. This role involves offering basic training to faculty and end-users, performing quality assurance assessments, and maintaining documentation. The position requires a strong technical background for diagnosing and resolving issues independently within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit classrooms and learning spaces to test equipment, update software, and perform light technical duties.
- Assist AV staff with troubleshooting technologies such as laptop setups, Zoom, Panopto, and other audio/video equipment.
- Document activities, events, and materials used in service tickets or reports.
- Recommend solutions to general problems and inquiries from clients according to established practices.
- Support faculty in using room technology, including Zoom, PowerPoint, and Panopto.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance to users in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assist with presentation setup and IT needs to ensure lectures are properly recorded or streamed.
- Manage inventory of campus classroom spaces, including gathering product information and performing data entry.
Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Experience in the AV industry or working with electronics.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with video conferencing software (Zoom and Teams) and technical proficiency with Windows and Apple operating systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in an analytical field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 1 year of professional experience in the AV industry.
- 1 year of experience with video conferencing software (Zoom and Teams) and computing/networking technologies.
- 1 year of experience with Crestron and QSYS products or comparable systems.
- 1 year of knowledge of lecture capture platforms like Panopto.
- 1 year of experience troubleshooting VC and AV system problems under pressure.

Work Environment
- Ability to lift and transport AV equipment weighing 30-50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet.
- Willingness to move between multiple locations and buildings.
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend work is required.
- Must be able to commute to the Chicago campus as needed.
