Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with a focus on data and systems architecture to support our Client's strategic growth in quantitative investment sciences. This pivotal role involves designing and developing robust, scalable data infrastructure that underpins investment research and trading activities. Your engineering expertise will directly influence the company's ability to generate alpha, enhance operational efficiencies, and push the boundaries of quantitative finance. Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the creation and enhancement of innovative data processing and analysis systems.
  • Develop and maintain scalable software components that enable high-quality, accessible data pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with quantitative researchers to deploy research insights into live trading platforms.
  • Ensure data integrity and reliability through automated testing, monitoring, and quality controls.
  • Build APIs and microservices that facilitate seamless integration between research tooling and trading systems.
  • Promote the reuse and development of modular software frameworks to accelerate research cycles and decision-making processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices in distributed systems, data architecture, and emerging technologies relevant to quantitative finance.

Essential Skills & Experience


  • A minimum of two years' professional experience in software engineering within data-rich environments.
  • Proven proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation and system development.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, clean coding standards, and maintainability.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts clearly.
  • A proactive approach with a high degree of ownership, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
  • Hands-on experience with automation, DevOps practices, and containerisation technologies.

Preferred Skills & Additional Experience


  • Experience working with distributed systems (e.g., Spark, Dask) and orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven design.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS) and automation tools.
  • Exposure to quantitative trading, time series data, or alternative datasets.
  • Experience working with machine learning, NLP applications, or LLMs.

This position is based on site in NYC, applicants must be based locally or US based and open to relocation. Unfortunately sponsorship is not available for this position.
